To find something to read, probably you can conduct the Taiwanese representative office in your area to get a newspaper "國語日報"(Mandarin Daily News). It is not difficult, and probably in a week or so, you are able to use it. If you are so interested in learning this system, the easiest way is probably to find any Taiwanese person to teach you. It's a kind of barrier for people who have no knowledge beforehand to learn. although it's still quite well supported in all gadgets, most of the manuals are written in Chinese. it's another keyboard layout, and it's another effort to learn how to type if you are so used to English-based keyboard However, it might be not so practical for people to learn for some reasons: It is like Kana in Japanese for me, and, in my opinion, it is more precise than nowadays pinyin system. I used it for a while before, but not long.
